Latest News
November 22, 2019: At the start of the month, OnePlus rolled out the stable build of Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 to the OnePlus 6T. Unfortunately, the update turned out to be a little under-optimized than OnePlus would have liked, which ultimately forced the company to pause the rollout until further notice.
A piece of encouraging news has now come to the fore from OnePlus’ stables, which confirms that OxygenOS 10 is once again ready for release. As revealed by OnePlus’ weekend update, the latest Android 10 build for the OnePlus 6T is currently being tested by CTS and rollout could commence as early as next week.
November 01, 2019: OnePlus has started rolling out the first stable Android 10 build to its 2018 flagship, the OnePlus 6T. The software is identical to the one released for the OnePlus 7 Pro, so, expect a host of subtle UI changes and all of Android 10 key features. Alongside the latest version of Android, the OTA also brings the October 2019 security patch.
October 19, 2019: The Android 10 upgrade is finally rolling out for the OnePlus 6T users, coming in as OxygenOS 10.0 update. This is a staged rollout, so it may take some time to reach all the units, but the wait shouldn’t be lasting more than a few weeks. The OTA is sized about 1.8GB. The Android 10 update is available only for the Global model, BTW, hence the wait for T-Mobile users in the US continues.

October 19, 2019: T-Mobile has started rolling out an update for the OnePlus 6T. Carrying software version A6013_34_191016 (9.0.15), the OTA brings the October 2019 security patch and the highly-anticipated screen recorder.
October 19, 2019: The Android 10 update is finally available for the OnePlus 6T users, with the beta rolling out as Open Beta 1 update. It’s available as an OTA for those on Open Beta 17 right now but if you are on the stable update (OxygenOS 9.0.17), you will have to wait another 2-3 weeks to get the OTA update under the stable channel.
Sure, you can manually download the Open Beta 1 update and install it over OxygenOS 9.0.17 without losing data to get your first taste of Android 10 on your OnePlus 6T but downgrading back from Open Beta 1 to Android 9 Pie will require a factory reset. Download links for the Open Beta 1 update are available in the update timeline table below.

Android R and Android S updates
- Android R update is fully expected
- Android S may or may not be released
Given the recent direction that OnePlus has taken, where the OnePlus 5 and 5T have already been guaranteed updates to Android 10 while OnePlus 3 and 3T got their third major Android OS update to Pie, you would be forgiven to think OnePlus 6T will also receive three major OS upgrades. But wait, that’s not true.
OnePlus 6’s role
The reasoning is right, but you need to know that while OnePlus 6T was released with Pie, OnePlus 6 was released with Android Oreo and thus OnePlus will deem the OnePlus 6 eligible for Android Pie (released), Android 10 (2nd update) and possibly, Android R (based on Pie for OnePlus 3, which was its 3rd OS update).
We wouldn’t be surprised if OnePlus treats the OnePlus 6T with same updates as OnePlus 6, we think the 6T will be eligible for Android 10 for sure, but only probably for Android R, but no Android S, even though its 3rd OS update will be Android S.
What do you think? Are you excited about OxygenOS 10.0?
Will OnePlus stop at Android 10, 11, or 12 with regard to OS updates to OnePlus 6T?
