Galaxy S7 Edge Android 7.0 Nougat update enters testing!

Ever since LG G5 Nougat update was launched in Korea — albeit for some users only — we were wondering how much time it will take Samsung to come up with a Nougat update of its own for either of Galaxy S7, or S7 Edge, or the Note 7. Now, it seems the Galaxy S7 Edge Nougat update is almost ready at Samsung, under testing at the very least, as our favorite benchmark website, Geekbench, is hosting lots of listings about the S7 Edge where the device is shown running none other than Android 7.0 OS. Look at the screenshot above, and some more URLs provided at the bottom as proof of this.

We knew Note 7 Nougat update will take more time than for Galaxy S7, because a Samsung employee said at the Note 7’s launch that it will take them 2-3 months to bring the Nougat update to the device, but it was also obvious because of extra Note-specific customization needed for this build.

History also is proof that Samsung’s S-series has received the latest Android update before its Note counterpart.

Model no. SM-G935F in the listing is none other than your international Galaxy S7 Edge set, and there are several Geekbench listings showing the device running Android 7.0 Nougat.

Not that all listings run Android 6.0.1. If you check search the device’s codename at Geekbench, you’ll see that latest listings show the device running Marshmallow, but dig deeper and you will run into Android 7.0 listings very well.

Update (September 19, 2016): Well, similar listings are now available for the Galaxy S7 too, showing the device running Android 7.0. We really think the Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 is also close. If Samsung keeps its practice with S6 sets for S7 too, then both the S7 and S7 Edge are gonna receive the Nougat update together, and now it looks to be happening real soon.
